I finally don't feel so alone. I got into poison ivy on June 1. On June 12th I finally went to my md to get something to take for it to go away. I had been treating it with calamine, topical stuff and taking Benadryl.... She gave me a shot which actually made it all go away within two hours. BUT, she also loves giving out pills, so she gave me the Dexpak. I took it for 7 days and my heart was beating uncontrollably. I didn't get REM sleep for 5 straight days. I took myself off. Cold turkey, yeah, I know you're not supposed to do that, but that stuff was killing me. So finally after having a meltdown in my office at home, my husband and I went back to her to see what she could do for me. She said oh, just go home, drink some wine and get some sleep.
I went home, drank two glasses of wine (which after doing research is NO combination with with high powered drug and she should have known better!!) Took a really hot bath, tried to get sleep. My husband took off work for three days to try to get me sleep.... finally we went to the ER because my heart wouldn't stop pounding so fast. The ER drugged me with some serious sedatives. I had a reaction to those and had a panic attack in the ER, so their solution: strap her down (bruised my wrist) and take her to a psychiatric unit for "symptoms of schzitophernia." So I was basically in a room with a bunch of people that can't control themselves. I did get 8 hours of sleep and regained all cohesive control. I was still groggy from the sedatives, but I knew what was going on. The nurses were the rudest people I have EVER been in contact with. No wonder the patients were in fits! After 5 hours of me and my husband (who was downstairs with my Mom) they finally released me. I talked to the discharge nurse and she said that if I sign a form releasing myself "against medical advice" that insurance might not pay for it. I said, are you kidding me? I would rather pay to get out of here than sit here one more minute with these people.

It was the worst medical experience I've EVER had. I have since fired my md. She doesn't know it though because she hasn't BOTHERED to call to check on me!! So, I am not going to a psychologist and my obgyn to make sure those steroids didn't screw up my brain or my endocrine system as we are trying to have a baby. Yeah, that was my first thought too... why would my MD who KNOWS we are trying to conceive do this to me?

Whew. Anyway, so my advice is to make sure you have someone around you at all times that can monitor your heart beat and write down EVERYTHING that happens in case you have a situation like mine. I journal all the time, so it was easy for me to explain to the shrink.

Okay, good luck out there!!!

I'm going crazy too!
My boyfriend doesn't know what hit him. I thought the pill made me depressed/moody and I heard the nuvaring would be better- but I don't think so. I've been craaazy nauseous, and eating a lot. Also going from feeling fine to feeling like I need to crawl into bed or into a hot bath immediately.
This is my first month using the nuvaring so maybe it takes a few months for the side effects to go away. Or maybe they will get worse!
I'm not sure what to do.
I think I will get my act together and switch to the non-hormonal IUD so I take hormones out of the equation completely and learn how I am normally!

I have been on Topamax for four months for epilepsy and I love it. I do experience some of the above mentioned side effects but my seizures were not grand mal seizures they were absence seizures. so the memory loss thing is a non issue for me, as far as depression, didn't get that one, weight loss; glad to have it, tingling; not that bad; the coldness; really only bothersome at bedtime so I take a bath at night, a really hot bath. Confusion, I was confused a lot because of the seizures so, again don't know which is worse. For me I feel this is a miracle drug. I'm not sure about the abdominal issues that is my only concern right now, that is what I am dealing with constipation and maybe some menstrual issues??

Hi Ladies,
I was not aware that there was so many side effects, I had terrible pain having it inserted as most of you did, cramping for the first month after and then nothing till this morning when I woke up and felt like I was in labor I could barely move I had 2 Panadol which had no effect so I had a hot bath 2 Nurofen, a Berocca, called the hospital where I had my 2 children and the Mirena put in, they said it may have dislodged because it is a foreign object our bodies will try to reject it from time to time because it is a foreign object, it is not dangerous for us just really uncomfortable, the pain started to go away so i went to work, I feel a bit heavy but that is it!
She has booked me in for a consult in the New Year, I am not worried.
Not that Bad!

I took this yesterday after suffering with asthma problems off and on the past couple of months. After two trips to the doctor, the final consensus was that I had a sinus infection, and that the continuous dripping into my chest was causing the chest congestion.
Anyway, within one hour of taking avelox, I had a full-blown anxiety attack ....I was dizzy, lightheaded, my head felt like it would explode, had diarrhea, couldn't breathe, and thought I was dying. I almost called 911. After about 4 hours of this I took half of a 1 mg lorazepam pill to calm down. I continue to feel completely unwell all evening, shaking and anxious. I finally took a hot bath, and a full lorazepam, which allowed me to sleep. I am telling you that the whole afternoon and evening was a harrowing experience. I am also wondering if the side effects were exacerbated by the Astiliin (nasal spray) I took, since this morning that drug made me feel extremely groggy and tight in the chest.
I will NEVER take this drug again, and now I am so afraid that I am scared to take the zithromax the doctor prescribed in place of Avonex, even though I have used zithromax in the past with no side effects.
At this point, I am ready to consult a naturopath or acupuncturist to help with my condition - most of these new-fangled drugs seem to cause more problems than they "cure".

I have taken ambien only a few times a month for a year and it seemed to work most of the time. Last week at around 10 pm I had a small glass of wine, took a 5mg ambien then a hot bath. When I came downstairs I SAW DOUBLE OF EVERYTHING.My husband thought it might be a slight stroke and insisted I go to emergency. The doctor said ambien has many side effects and this was probably the cause even though it is not listed in their data sheet. The doctor did a catscan and it was ok. Everything cleared up in 2-3 hours.

I too have been taking celexa for a number of years. It has been a great medication for me. The only complaint I have is weight gain and leg cramps. I have gained 40 pounds, and can not seem to lose it no matter what I do. The leg cramps are horrible. The only thing that helps is a hot bath before bed, that seems to quit the legs down.
